‘Studio Trash, Gallery Trash’, Interactive installation, Trash, wood, glass,

Cannonball Arts Submission (not linked from home page)

Project Description:

‘Studio Trash, Gallery Trash’ is an interactive and playful exploration of art, creation, participation, inclusivity, and, well… trash.

The first part of the installation, ‘Studio Trash’, is a curated collection of discarded materials from my art studio, lovingly arranged in a large frame. The result is a sort of archaeological cross-section of a beautiful art trash heap. The project began in March 2024 and is on track to be completed in spring 2025.

‘Gallery Trash’ is a second frame that all Cannonball Arts visitors will be invited to contribute to. Viewers can place their own pocket trash into the frame through a hole in the glass. This interactive element allows participants to permanently impact the gallery space. I believe this act is quite inclusive—we all make trash! You don’t need to be self-confident, skilled at drawing, or have a quick wit to add to the piece. I hope this work will be funny and delightful for viewers while also demonstrating that art is something everyone can create.

What makes this project a fit for Cannonball Arts?:

‘Studio Trash, Gallery Trash’ challenges the boundaries of what can be considered art while celebrating the act of creation itself, making it a perfect fit for an art center that values innovation, accessibility, and engagement. Thank you for your consideration :)
